Dr. Sarah Buchan is the Scientific Lead in Communicable Disease Control at Public Health Ontario, a senior Adjunct Scientist at ICES, and an Associate Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto, and a faculty member in their Centre for Vaccine Preventable Diseases. The goal of her applied research program is to contribute high-quality evidence to support immunization decision making, applying a life-course framework and equity lens. She leads work on the epidemiology of vaccine-preventable and other infectious diseases, with a focus on studying the burden of respiratory viruses in high-risk populations, as well as assessing vaccine effectiveness, evaluating program impact, and estimating vaccine coverage. She is a co-lead of the Real World Evidence on Vaccines using Existing Data Network, part of the Canadian Immunization Research Network, and serves as the CAIRE liaison to the National Advisory Committee on Immunization.
