CAIRE is accepting nominations for two Scientific Co-chairs positions for the Canadian Immunization Conference 2018 (4-6 December, 2018).
Deadline for submissions is September 26, 2017 using the nomination form below.
The CAIRE Scientific Co-chairs will join a multidisciplinary conference planning committee that includes representatives from public health, government, and other immunization stakeholders. The planning committee is tasked with developing the content of Canada’s major biannual meeting of health care professionals working in immunization: from research to program management. The role of Scientific Co-chairs is to promote integration of research into the conference program. The conference secretariat is responsible for all the logistics of the conference including inviting speakers recommended by the planning committee.
Nominees must be current CAIRE members. Researchers in the fields of vaccine/immunization research (including clinical, laboratory, epidemiology, social science and mathematical modelling) and immunization program evaluation are eligible.
The time commitment for the Scientific Co-chairs will involve:
- The conference planning committee will have 10-12 teleconferences (1-2 hours each) starting October 2017. Conference planning committee members are expected to plan and chair a session at the conference.
- Co-chairing the abstract review process including selection of oral abstract sessions. This will take ~15 hours between May-August 2018.
Note that active participation is expected from all planning committee members. The secretariat expects committee members to participate in at least 70% of the calls to be eligible for travel support to attend the conference.
Committee members are not remunerated for their participation but there should be no costs incurred from participation. Ideally, nominees will have attended previous Canadian Immunization Conferences. See CIC2016 for a sample of a conference program.
